Transplant Procedure
Dear Client,
You have been registered on liver transplant list with a file number and blood type, however, please note the following points until you are called for transplant:
- The patient should be under gastroenterologist supervision until being transplanted.
- Determining the priority of transplant applicants on the list is based on the reviews and test results and is done by the application.
- Send the mentioned test results along with your name, blood type, and file number to the Organ Transplant Coordinating Unit every 3 Months.
Tests: BUN, Cr, Na, K, FBS, LFT (SGOT, SGPT, Alk Pho, Alb.Gl, Bili D), CBC, WBC, diff Plt, PT, PTT, INR.
- During the waiting time, send the summary of your medical files for Organ Transplant Coordinating.
- In case of changing your number inform the transplant coordinators.
- The validity of your medical files are up to 5 Months. Thus, if you are not being transplanted in this period of time, renewing the files is compulsory.
- If the patient has hepatitis, every 3 to 5 months should have a recent EBV test and a sonography report.
- For each Liver, four recipients are called and then the proper one would select based on the patient’s conditions.
- In case of having Ulcerative Colitis disease, colonoscopy result and new sampling should be done every 6 months.
If you are called for transplant surgery, noted the mentioned tips below:
- Calling transplant applicants is done urgently, thus, keep your medical records in an accessible place.
- Give much attention to the instructions that coordinators is given about the fasting and time of being present at the hospital.
- Before going to the hospital, take a shower and shave the body hair (beard, chest, belly, armpit, genital area).
- Bring your medical records, health insurance card and some amount of money.
- Be sure to bring one of your first-degree relatives along with you to the hospital.
- Be in contact with the transplant coordinators on the way to the hospital.
