Introduction
Abualisina Organ Transplantation Laboratory, one of the largest and most equipped molecular and pathobiology laboratories in the country, aims to provide the best and most accurate medical diagnostics services to the clients and the medical community by utilizing management principles, qualified personnel and modern equipment. The laboratory consists of two clinical units on the first floor and a surgical one on the ground floor.
Clinical department
Biochemistry unit
In this unit, routine and specific biochemical tests on blood, urine and other body fluid samples are done by fully automated auto analyzer and advanced electrolyte analyzers and precise quality control.
Hematology unit
Hematology is the most currently used test of this department that is used to diagnose blood disorders including Anemia, malignancy, etc. CBC test is used and it uses the full automatic devices of the Seismics Company. Peripheral blood smears of all the patients in terms of cell morphology are also analyzed by experienced experts in this unit. Blood coagulation tests ESR are done by use of full automatized devices like G6PD, Sickle prep, Hb A1C. Other medical test units are as follows:
Microbiology unit
This unit examines blood, urine, and other bad fluids for the presence of microorganisms (using hot staining, culture and differential tests) and also performs antibiotic susceptibility tests (antibiograms) with advanced techniques by experienced personnel.
Urine breakdown unit
In this section, microscopic and macroscopic study of urine and urine biochemical parameters are done by qualified personnel with strict quality control.
Parasitology unit
Fecal tests for the presence of negative blood and parasites, as well as the identification of parasites such as malaria, leishmaniosis, arthropods, etc. are done by experts in the parasitology unit.
Blood bank
In this unit, blood products (compacted red blood cells, whole blood, fresh frozen plasma, cryo, platelets) are prepared from the Blood Transfusion Organization and delivered to the ward for use by patients in the clinical ward of the hospital by performing blood transfusion compatibility tests.
Immunology Serology unit
In this unit, types of routine and specific hormone, drug, rheumatology and virology tests are done by use of advanced methods. In addition, diagnostic tests of Brucellosis, Siemens rheumatism and Abbott are done by use of Arthritis, syphilis and typhoid devices in Serology unit.
Surgical department
Pathology unit
This unit is supervised by Professor Bita Geramizadeh, Professor of Pathology at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and Specialist in Gastroenterology and Liver Pathology. This unit examines all specimens of pathology, frozen section and cytology (including Pap smear and fluid cytology and needle aspiration and needle aspiration) with routine procedures and proprietary staining.
Molecular unit
This department is supervised by Professor Bita Geramizadeh, Professor of Pathology at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and Specialist in Gastroenterology and Liver Pathology. In this unit donor recipient is done that is directed for HLA-typing by PCR. In this unit tests and then results are analyzed.

Ward recommendations to visitors (patients)
Fasting is needed in some tests. Please ask the receptionist on your need for fasting. Drugs that the physician has not directed to discontinue, use as in the past. Wake up the morning of the test, just like every day, meaning you don’t have to wake up more than an hour later than other days. Before dealing with the daily routines that may cause physical and mental stress visit the laboratory. Arriving in the lab, due to physical stress during your visit, sit calmly and comfortably for about 15 minutes before sampling and do not hurry up for sampling.
