Abu-Ali Sina Charity Center
Abu-Ali Sina foundation is a full-service charity, academic, research and medical foundation that is ready to offer upmost services to patients. It is located in south of the country in Sadra city, Shiraz, Fars province. The purpose is providing and promoting society’s health which has been started its activities from 2018.
This center started operating with a focus on organ transplant with financial support of some charity men and a group of prominent Shiraz University of Medical Sciences members.
The organ transplant activities were started since 1993 in Namazi Hospital (Shiraz, Fars) and concentrated in “Shiraz Organ Transplant Center” of Abu-Ali Sina Hospital since 2017.
The Necessity of Establishing an Organ Transplant Center
The increasing number of patients with failed organs as in kidney, liver, heart, pancreas and a high demand for organ transplant operation surgery from deceased donors with healthy organs shows the importance of establishing an efficient organ transplant center that can handle this great number of patients and despite the great efforts of doctors and nurses at Organ Transplantation Center of Namazi Hospital, a large number of patients are still on the waiting list to receive transplantation.
According to the above-mentioned explanations, “Shiraz Organ Transplantation Center”, the largest, and the best equipped organ transplant center of Middle East was founded.
Namazi Organ Transplant Center
The specialized and sub-specialized Namazi hospital is one of the largest and equipped academic-medical health care centers in the south of Iran which known with the name of famous philanthropist Mr. Mohamed Namazi (since 1955), is the first medical treatment center in the country in which the first successful organ transplant surgeries have been done.
The first successful kidney transplant operation in Iran was done by Dr. Seyed Mohamed Sanadi Zadeh in 1947, The first successful liver transplant operation in Iran was done by Dr. Seyed Ali Malek Hosseini in 1993, and the first successful Pancreas transplant operation in Iran was done by Dr. Saman Nikeghbalian in 2006 in Namazi Hospital, Shiraz and the first heart transplant by Dr. Mohammad Ali Sanjarian again in Namazi Hospital in 1992.
Abu-Ali Sina Charity Center
This complex was built on a plot of 80 thousand square meters land. The four phase of this huge project is described as below:
- Abu-Ali Sina transplant Hospital: with an area of 80 thousand square meters, containing 9 floors and capacity of 600 beds, is currently operating.
- Hemodialysis Center: with an area of 5 thousand square meters, containing 80 beds with a daily admission capacity of 240 dialysis patients with the efforts of a charity man named Mr.Reza Ebrahimi, is currently operating.
- South Cancer sub-specialized Hospital: with an area of 80 thousand square meters with 1000 beds, is under construction.
- Construction of adjoining buildings on an 80 thousand square meters land: Containing Abu-Ali Sina education center for medical sciences, International medical, Dental, Pharmacy and Nursing Schools, Mosque, Multipurpose Sports Hall, Student Dormitory and residential complex of center are under construction.
Shiraz Transplant Center in Abu-Ali Sina Center
Shiraz Transplant Department of Abu-Ali Sina Center is the largest medical center in the Middle East for organ transplants. This department with the help of prominent physicians and expert personnel is the most equipped organ transplant center in Iran and Middle East which yearly executed noticeable uncommon transplants in Shiraz. Increasing the number of patients applying for organ transplant leads this center to perform all kinds of liver, Kidney, pancreas, heart, colon and multivisceral transplant surgeries with harvesting organ from both cadaver and alive donor. In this regard, this Department’s experts, fully fluent in different languages (English, Arabic, Turkish, German, etc.), are ready to provide services to them, as required by non-Persian speaking clients.
